Programmes
Undergraduate Program (B.Tech)
The UG programme of Civil Engineering Department started way back in 1955 and current intake is 90. Up to 2016-2017 entry batch, the programme was affiliated to Gauhati University and from 2017-2018, it is affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University. The alumni of this department serve various state/central government departments and PSUs and many are successful entrepreneurs.
Postgraduate Program (M.Tech)
With a vision to create specialised manpower in the area of flood and erosion management, which is considered to be one of the most vulnerable areas of Assam, a post graduate programme with the specialisation of Watershed Management and Flood Control was started in the department in 1976. The second specialised post graduate course on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering was started in 1988. The intake capacity of each of the programmes is 18. Both the programmes have been renamed as Water Resources Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering respectively in 2015. Currently PG programme is affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University.
Doctoral Program (Ph.D)
To boost R&D activity in the department and to find sustainable solutions to regional problems, doctoral programme leading to Ph.D. degree was started in the department in 1993. Now, scholars are pursuing research in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering. Till date 32 research scholars have been awarded Ph.D degree from the Department.
