The laboratory has state of the art geotechnical engineering equipment and is one of the oldest laboratories of Assam Engineering College. It caters the needs of civil engineering undergraduate students, post graduate students and doctoral research scholars as well as provides consultancy services to many reputed organizations of the entire Northeastern region. The laboratory has all the facilities for testing soil, rock as well as geo-synthetic materials. CONCRETE ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The Concrete Laboratory of Civil Engineering Department is covered by an area of 17.2 meter × 8.8 meter. The laboratory is operated both as a teaching and research facility. The laboratory facilitates research in many areas related to concrete materials, such as fly ash, slag cement, and alternative cementitious materials with little hydraulic cement. The laboratory collaborates with academia, other government agencies, and industry, leveraging expertise in conducting research to address issues of national significance. Consultancy works are done in the laboratory and annual turnover is about Rupees 1 crore. The instruments available in the laboratory are-

HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The Hydraulics Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department of Assam Engineering College is situated in a separate double-storeyed building having about 10,000 square feet of floor area. It has the facilities to perform experiments for undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the fields of Hydraulics, Hydrology, River Engineering and other related areas. The laboratory is being extensively used for lab experiments listed in the curricula as well as for project/dissertation and research works throughout the year. The apparatus available are-

This laboratory deals with all the experiments listed in the curricula of undergraduate programs of Civil Engineering. The instruments available are adequate to test the quality of drinking and waste water and hence becomes useful to carry out project works on those area. Surveying can be said to be the first step into Civil engineering. Engineering Surveying is required for planning, design and execution of any construction work. In the Engineering Surveying Laboratory, established in the year 1955, the students are exposed to various basic and advanced equipment. ENGINEERING GEOLOGY LABORATORY

The identification of different types of rocks and minerals with the help of their physical properties is the main objective of Engineering Geology Laboratory. Determination of dip and strike, determination of dip by graphical method, construction of geological cross-sections across a geological map are done in this laboratory. Borehole correlation problems and toposheets are also studied in this lab. This lab helps a civil engineering student in different areas such as understanding the geological setup, structure and geological history, configuration and drainage details of an area.
