I am Mrinal Roy a PhD candidate from TU Delft, The Netherlands. I come from the city of Silchar (Assam) and I did my Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College (Batch 2012-2016).
During my Bachelors, I was introduced in the field of drinking water and wastewater treatment and the applicability of this field in achieving the “Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean water and Sanitation” proposed by United Nations motivated me to build a career as (waste)water treatment technologist. Therefore, I decided to go for higher studies in Environmental Engineering where I can excel my knowledge and expertise in (waste)water treatment. I joined IIT Guwahati to do additional research after my time in AEC. I joined the Environmental Engineering department of IIT Guwahati where I worked as a Research Assistant for 1 year and during that time I started applying to different universities. Finally, I got the admission letter for Masters of Science (MSc) from my dream university: TU Delft, back in March, 2017. I joined the Environmental Engineering Track of TU Delft for my MSc in August, 2017 and got the degree in August, 2019. I started my PhD life in November, 2017 to continue my work to treat arsenic contaminated water. I am in the 3rd year of my PhD now.
In a nut shell, it was a long and tough journey from Silchar to AEC to TU Delft, but it was worth it.
