Ms. Ruth T. Changsan, IRSE
Alumnus of 1997 Batch CED - AEC BE (Civil Engineering) Year: 1997 Graduated with Honours (Gold Medallist) Currently Chief Engineer in Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd (MRVC)
- After graduation, she cleared the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam in her first attempt in 1999 and was inducted into the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE).
- Her service started with a probation period of one and a half years during which, she underwent training at various Railway Institutes and Zonal Railways in the country. During this period, she received various commendations that included Best Probationer trophy at the Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), Pune and Director General’s gold medal at the Railway Staff College, Vadodara, among others.
- After that, she served in Northeast Frontier Railway upto July,2012 in various positions viz. Asst. Divisional Engineer, Jagiroad, Divisional Engineer, Lumding, Sr. Divisional Engineer, Lumding and as Dy. Chief Engineer/Bridge Design in Maligaon. During her tenure as Asst. Divisional Engineer, she received the General Manager’s Award for her outstanding service in restoration of railway tracks and bridges that were destroyed by the great flood of 2004.
- She then went on deputation to Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, New Delhi, as the Deputy Secretary/MRTS (Mass Rail Transit Systems) and dealt with the metro rail projects of the country.
- On repatriation back to Ministry of Railways in January, 2014, she served as the Director/MTP (Metropolitan Transport Projects) in Railway Board, New Delhi where she dealt with the technical aspects of the metro projects of the country and matters related to suburban rail systems, traffic facility works, and State Joint Venture Companies of Indian Railways. During this period, she received the National Award for outstanding service in 2017.
- After completing her tenure in Railway Board in April, 2019, she now works as the Chief Engineer in Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd (MRVC), which is a PSU under Ministry of Railways, that deals with planning and execution of projects related to improving, enhancing, and expanding the Mumbai suburban rail network.
